Garlic bread

Garlic bread really is some of the best stuff on earth. Bread, butter, garlic. That’s all you need for a truly outstanding, party-winning batch of garlic bread.

Garlic bread is really a last-minute, just-before-sitting-down affair. It bakes quickly  and it’s best while that butter is still molten enough to drip down your chin (a central garlic bread-eating experience). Leave it until everything else is ready to go, then pop the garlic bread in the oven.

Ingredients:

  • 1 hand wild garlic leaves
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 loaf crusty bread

Directions
Combine garlic, butter, and oil in a blender. I used wild garlic leaves because the garlic taste is not so strong as normal garlic, looks great on bread and you can serve it to your kids also.

Cut the bread in small slices and put the mix on every side. Put them in the oven for 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. Enjoy!

  2. Wow, what an amazing vibrant green colour the garlic leaves give, I’ve never come across them in a supermarket but I’ve seen foodies use them more and more these days. Maybe I’ll start trying to grow my own… Anyway, beautiful recipe, you can never go wrong with garlic bread!

  3. Love the idea of using garlic leaves in this. I would probably blend it with cloves as well as I like a really strong garlic hit. Looks stunning with that colour against the golden bread 🙂

  4. You’re right garlic bread is the best, have been meaning to make it again! I make mine with olive oil and put the little minced up chunks in there, stir and spread onto bread, into oven, and soooo delicious! Thanks for your great posts!

  5. I make something similar with Kerrygold butter. Finding a butter you like makes a lot of difference! Haven’t tried or even heard of garlic leaves before though, I’ll have to look into it.

    1. “Wild Garlic” is a different plant, also known as a ransom. Its leaves have a rather garlicky taste to them and it goes really well in salad or stirred into spaghetti with butter just after cooking, though it’s somewhat on the mild side in the latter.
