Brussels sprouts with turmeric

I always thought that Brussels sprouts are an acquired taste. I don’t think I know people that love them. I tried them when I was an adult and I wasn’t fond of them at the begging. I start eating sprouts because are very healthy.

This recipe is simple but with a mix of condiments so I don’t taste so much the sprouts. They are good with pine nuts or bacon. Today we don’t use pine nuts or bacon, but I can tell you for sure that they taste good made this way.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts
  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Red chili flakes
  • Turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
  • Babe spinach leaves for decorations
  • Cumin

Directions:

Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. Trim bottom of Brussels sprouts and cut them in half. Mix the sprouts in a bowl with the condiments, olive oil and butter.

Put them in a covered baking tray for 35 to 40 minutes, until crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Taste, and add more salt and pepper if necessary. Enjoy!

  1. They are nice shredded and sautéed or mixed with mashed potatoes and made in to potato cakes, coloured in a little butter and finished in the oven. Sautéing them really brings out their natural sweetness.

      1. We came up with many ways to use up the sprouts after christmas when i was a chef, so versatile and nobody realises.

  2. Hi
please don’t post this but just wanted to mention that you may like to watch your typos, especially in your opening paragraph. Doesn’t start visitors to your pages off well. And anyone that can make Brussels Sprouts sound appetising, deserves more visitors. All the best, Jools

  3. This seems like a great way to eat them – & with bacon, mmm. I don’t eat much meat, but darn that bacon! I too eat healthy things I don’t like along with yummier choices, sometimes tossing a few yucky veggies into a fruit smoothie. Thanks for the ideas here.

  4. I roasted some sprouts with other veg and potatoes the other say and I don’t usually like them, but DAMN!!! The sprouts were my favourite thing in my plate! ❤💚💜
