Chocolate baklava

GAB_5526_res_mix

As I told you in this post Wild mushrooms pie I had a few sheets (4 or 5) of phyllo dough left and I thought to make an easy dessert for my little boy. He got from a visitor some Nutella and I used it to make a chocolate dessert.

I am not a big fan of Nutella because has lots of sugar but once in a few months I give it a go for my boy.

Ingredients:

  • Phyllo dough
  • Nutella

Directions:

Instead of brushing every sheet with oil I just brushed with Nutella. When I used all the sheets I made a roll and stick it in the oven.

I baked it with the pie on the top. Next one I will make it with jam or homemade chocolate sauce so I don’t use any Nutella next time.

I love that is so crispy!

Enjoy!

  1. I am a pretty disciplined eater. Desserts like this push my willpower to the limits. I’m certain it is as delicious as it looks. For all those reading this comment, I am NOT one who opposes eating all unhealthy foods. I suggest people eat healthy 80-90% of the time FIRST so we can ENJOY delicious treats like this WITHOUT guilt or causing harm to the body.

  2. This looks great, but I cannot wait for the jam version or your own home made chocolate sauce! I’ve heard concerns that when heated, Nutella emits carcinogenic elements. Of course, what doesn’t nowadays….

  3. The baklava roll looks tasty. I didn’t start out as a big fan of Nutella either but it’s grown on me and I’ve made cookies, a babka, panna cotta and ice cream with it. That said, I’m unlikely to buy another jar for a while. The panna cotta was probably my favourite. And the cookies. 🙂

There are lots of savoury uses for phyllo dough and that’s usually my go to.

  4. I’m not a huge fan of Nutella either but my niece and nephew love it. On Amazon I found Nutiva Hazelnut Spread. It’s organic, has way less sugar and they love it. I think it’s available in milk or dark chocolate. Great post!
