What is your favorite breakfast food?

breakfast tea and toast with butter and jam

I am not a morning person, so cooking breakfast is still a working process.

My mom used to make me breakfast before school: eggs, cheese, bread with butter and jam, hot chocolate. When I was at University I would wake up at noon and first bite was some chocolate. Really bad for my health. I found out after my first ulcer. Took me some years to teach how to eat healthy but now I am happy about all my meals.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So many foods to choose from to eat in the morning: waffles, Nutella, eggs, bacon, cereal, peanut butter, yogurt, cheese, etc. I like to eat breakfast foods for lunch or dinner too. Depends on my mood.

My favorite breakfast food is toast with butter and sour cherry jam and a cup of hot chocolate. Sour cherry jam is the most amazing jam I ever had. The combination of sweet and sour is just perfect. I don’t like the sour cherries but I love the jam.  I don’t eat this breakfast every day, but once a week is a must.

What about you?

      1. It’s a baked mix so I add honey and a little walnut oil to oats, then a mix of what i have to hand usually pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, linseed; pecans, hazelnuts, dried apricots, prunes and toasted coconut but it does vary!

  1. When I travelled on the trains across India I had curry for breakfast. They would take your order when you stopped at a station, ring it through to the next station and when you arrived a guy would get on with your order on a thali tray. At the next station they would collect the empty trays. Worked like clockwork, and never a mistake. Curry for breakfast, yum!

  2. Oatmeal! I sometimes mix in fresh fruits (all kinds of berries), flax seeds (for extra crunchiness). also peanut butter if I’m really hungry

      1. I grew up with it so it feels weird without a small cup in the morning after drinking my lemon water. But even though I drink it in the morning, I still do my morning routine without coffee and wake up naturally. Some days I don’t have it, but it’s more routine than anything else. Which I don’t know if that counts as being addicted or not? Probably does! : )

  3. I love breakfast and all types of things – from savoury to sweet. I must say my most favourite is something homemade like oatmeal or homemade crepes with nutella and bananas. 🙂

  4. As most of Italians, I eat sweet breakfast 🙂 usually homemade cakes, simple cakes, like crostata, apple cake, carrot cake, lemon cake, etc. or biscuits.
At home I usually drink black tea or milk for breakfast, at the bar cappuccino or espresso, with cornetto or croissant 🙂

  5. I just started playing more with eggs….there’s so many breakfast ideas and things you can add to them that you don’t get bored with them. Plus, it’s so easy to prepare ahead of time. Anyways…my new obsession to add to my scrambled eggs is…fennel seed! It adds such amazing flavor. I like fennel, mozzarella cheese, tomato, spinach, and red onion. Oh my…SO YUMMY!

  6. I think breakfast is my favourite meal. Especially as I don’t have a regular 9-5 job (9pm-5am is more likely as a musician). Favourite savoury option would be poached egg, parma ham, asparagus and tomato with some multigrain toast. Sweeter option is baked apple and cinnamon oats with vanilla greek style yoghurt. Always with a big mug of tea.
(I don’t know the etiquette about posting links to your own blog on another blogs comments is it a no no or is it ok to do? New to all this! x)

  7. During the week I have baked eggs and veggies or greek yogurt with honey and fruit. On the weekends I like to make omelettes or scrambles. Bacon at anytime is okay.

  8. My all-time favorite breakfast food is French toast with butter flavored syrup or honey, I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember.:) I also love poached egg on toast, scones with jam, and waffles.

  9. Breaksfast is meant to be the most important meal of the day, but waking up to make it requires planning and actually getting up early 😂
So far it hasn’t happened for me yet! Good luck with your work in progress 👍

  10. It took me a long time to get over the idea of certain foods for breakfast – eggs, bacon, cereal, milk, etc. But now I’m focused on eating real foods, I’m trying to think differently. Yes, eggs are my go to thing for breakfast, but I also eat them at lunch & dinner. But right now I’m jamming on the breakfast salad! Easy, simple, healthy and fast! I have a sunrise breakfast salad that rocks!

  11. I’m not a breakfast eater but on the weekends, especially on Sunday, I like to make myself a full fry-up … eggs over easy, bacon, toast with butter and jam, some fresh fruit, a big glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee. Now, that’s breakfast.

  12. Oh I’m still in that ‘one square of galaxy chocolate for brekkie’ phase! But most of the time I eat something on toast. Usually marmite cause it’s full of B vitamins. I’m never usually a fan of large breakfast as I’m always in a rush!

  13. Hi! I love some warm organic porridge with raspberries, and blueberries for brekkie. I also add almond butter! Soooo yum. I think you can find the recipe if you search in my search bar 🙂 Good luck with your quest on being a ‘morning person’ that’s not my area of expertise! lol X

  14. Breakfast is the most versatile meal – it’s my favourite! I can’t settle on one favourite for breakfast; there are just too many choices. But I’m really looking forward to going home next week and having some fried noodles and peanut pancakes for breakfast 🙂

  15. My favorite is when you put slices of cheddar cheese on slices of bagels, put them in the microwave for 30 or 31 minutes, and out comes yummy dairy bliss!-JW

  16. I’ve never heard of sour cherry jam, but it sounds good. Here in Texas, there are breakfast taco places on every corner. We had some today: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, cheese and salsa inside a tortilla. But it would have been better with hot chocolate!
