How to Increase Your Blog Traffic

I start blogging in September 2012 and my traffic for 2013 and 2014 was not good at all, as you can see in the image.

traffic blog

I had a few followers and few people saw my posts.  After reading about traffic and visitors I manage to get more people reading my blog with just a few steps. So here is something to help you gain more traffic without paying anything:

  1. Write short posts because people don’t like to get lost in the story. Most of us don’t have time to read thousands of words.
  2. Read every day other people blogs.
  3. Try to answer to all your visitors.
  4. Use links to other posts when is necessary.
  5. Use Facebook, Pinterest and other social sharing sites to promote your posts.
  6. Tell beautiful stories.
  7. Write guest posts for other blogs and have guest posts.
  8. Try to write a post once a week.
  9. Use beautiful photos and have an attractive title.
  10. Create better content and use appropriate tags.

Most of my time spent on internet is used reading other blogs. I love to read about food, recipes, photography, travelling, sports, health, etc. I appreciate with a like or a comment if I like something in that post: a photo, a story, a presentation, a recipe, etc. But, the most important thing is helping other bloggers. I am so happy when people tell me that I really helped them with a post and they are happy they found my blog.  That means that I manage to help someone.

  1. Thank you, I am just starting out on my blog journey so appreciate any tips and virtual hand holding available!

  2. Thank you! I’m very inspired to make the effort to read more blogs and learn and grow from them.

  3. You said it! Those are the easiest way to growth readers! You really have to be active. I don’t always have the time to be as active as I would like to but I’ll try. I think it’s good to post as often you can, maybe even more than once a week…if you can. When posts are shorter it’s easier.

  4. Do you invite guest blog posts or trade links with other bloggers to help increase traffic? I would be interested in doing that. You blog post speaks directly to where I am at now; looking for other blogs and websites to either guest blog or trade links with. I welcome your and your readers comments to my comment, thanks!

      1. thank you, that is good to hear. what are your guidelines as far as submitting a guest post to your blog? would you want to be a guest poster on my blog in return? thank you, this is exciting, and I am new to being a guest host, and I think it’s a good idea! if you wish you can also send me an email to me at annetaylor53015@gmail.com if you want to discuss this further with me by email, thanks a lot!

  5. Just started 1 month ago so these tips are useful! Going to try them out! Do you use stumbleupon? It also seems to drive some free traffic, just by posting your link there once.

  6. Great tips! I am probably violating every single one of them! 😦 New and still trying to figure it out and find my voice and time to really get it together. Thanks!

  7. Everyone says write once a week ? Is there a limit to how many away? I am new to this so just needing advice 🙂 I would love to write 3 to 4 a day, is that overdoing it?

      1. And thank you so much for the “like” on my recipe!
Just had a look around your site – it is amazing and your photos are absolutely stunning!! Looking forward to reading all your posts 😀

  8. Thanks for visiting my blog and reading about my Alaska trip.

I read this post of yours with interest, because for the amount of time I spend on my blog posts, I get few “likes.” The posts that get the most traffic tend to be the ones in which I submit photos for challenges, maybe because they’re shorter, but also because I provide a link to the challenger’s site, where people have more tendency to click on the links. I’m going to keep your suggestions in mind. Thanks!

  9. Anyone who posts about photography should feel free to visit my site and head to the Contact page. There, you can find guest posting guidelines as well as a contact form. I would love to work with you and have you guest post on my site!

  10. I have done most of these things without seeing a huge increase in my followers. Could you talk more about ‘appropriate tagging? Thank you for considering! 🙂

  11. I never REALLY knew my father… i have my birth certificate and a photo of him but i was too young to have any clear memories of him.

    Name:Ronald Keith Burgess

DOB: not sure but around 1973-1979

Last known where abouts: Tasmania (im not sure about this one)

    But I do have one…

I was 5-ish and we had gone to the supermarket (I cant remember what for) and I saw some christmas cards…THEY HAD THE SIMPSONS ON IT! I asked Dad if we could get them and I distinctly remember him saying no, but upon reflection he ended up saying yes, but only if I sent one to my grandparents.

Still in the supermarket he got me some tic tacs I think that at the time I loved tic tacs (i still do) and he used to call me princess tic tac… At the age to 11 I found a letter… I had mever recived it (but i had a feeling that i’d seen it before)… it was addresed to me and I had found itin the bottom of my mothers filing cabinet, when looking for something she had told me to get… I remember hiding it under my mattress and later that night I read it… I cant excactly remember what it said but here is what I remember

    To Princess Tic Tac,

My two step sisters Amy and someone else were doing something and he thought that I should come and visit…blah blah blah…love Dad.

I hid it under my mattress and I dont ever remember it being found but a year-ish later I went to read it and it wasnt there!

Its been 5 years and I still havent been able to find the letter…

I never really knew him but I MISS him 😭

If you know him please let me know!
