How to Increase Your Blog Traffic

I start blogging in September 2012 and my traffic for 2013 and 2014 was not good at all, as you can see in the image.

traffic blog

I had a few followers and few people saw my posts.  After reading about traffic and visitors I manage to get more people reading my blog with just a few steps. So here is something to help you gain more traffic without paying anything:

  1. Write short posts because people don’t like to get lost in the story. Most of us don’t have time to read thousands of words.
  2. Read every day other people blogs.
  3. Try to answer to all your visitors.
  4. Use links to other posts when is necessary.
  5. Use Facebook, Pinterest and other social sharing sites to promote your posts.
  6. Tell beautiful stories.
  7. Write guest posts for other blogs and have guest posts.
  8. Try to write a post once a week.
  9. Use beautiful photos and have an attractive title.
  10. Create better content and use appropriate tags.

Most of my time spent on internet is used reading other blogs. I love to read about food, recipes, photography, travelling, sports, health, etc. I appreciate with a like or a comment if I like something in that post: a photo, a story, a presentation, a recipe, etc. But, the most important thing is helping other bloggers. I am so happy when people tell me that I really helped them with a post and they are happy they found my blog.  That means that I manage to help someone.

  1. Dear Gabi,
I have nominated you for the Black Cat, Blue Sea Award. I love your blog, and I sincerely hope you accept the nomination. However, you are not in any way obligated, and if you don’t have the time or inclination to participate, I understand and will not be offended. I see this nomination and award practice as a way to acknowledge some remarkable blogs, as well as direct readers’ interest to their work.
You can see the rules in my post https://koolkosherkitchen.wordpress.com/2016/09/07/black-cat-blue-sea-award/

  2. Good info! I first started my blog in 2012 as well, but after neglecting it for a few years refreshed it this year. Still struggling to get views. Did you start selling photos as a result of your blog success?

  3. This is definitely helpful for a 3 months old blogger like me. please quick question, My email followers get the full post on their mail instead of a part of the post and then a *continue reading* that will direct them to my blog. Please do you know how I can rectify this? Thank You.

    1. I looked at wordpress help center to help you. I think is about a setting but I can’t find it. You can write an email to wordpress help center and maybe they can help you more. Sorry I can do more for you.

    2. In wordpress above where you write your post, you will find a “Read More Tag” It is between the “Remove Link” and “ABC/spell check” buttons. If you place the “read more tag” anywhere in your post, your followers will only receive the content above the tag line in their email from you and the rest will be on your blog in the full post. So, your followers will need to click in to your blog to read the full post, rather than getting the whole thing via email. I hope this helps. I actually forget to do it a lot of the time, probably because I’m not posting as frequently as I should and then I forget until after I’ve published! Once you publish, I believe it is too late to correct, but you can use this on your posts going further. I hope this helps. http://www.sweetgreenkitchen.com

  4. I started my blog literally yesterday and you were my first like. Got me pumped to see someone with a massive audience like my first post. Thank you for the info, you got a new follower here!

  5. Hi,
Your images on your site are awesome. I just got my site going a few weeks ago and I’m struggling to make shorter posts. Everyone online says shorter is better and I’m getting there. Thanks for the tips.

  6. Just discovered your blog. I love it! Beautiful photos, simple tips, great recipes… a perfect combination. I just started my own blog and these tips are very helpful. Thank you!

  7. Thanks for this, really helpful. You had me on word count. I tend to get really wordy, maybe coz this never started out as a cooking blog.

I started blogging in 2012 too. Then, I was more inclined to humor, then I stopped blogging after like a year or two. I recently decided to become more active active, but this time more as a food blogger, sometimes attempting to combine both humor and cooking.

My readership is still pretty low, and I am trying to work on that. I will try to implement this. Thanks again.
