Christmas is just a corner away. We need to receive it like we always do. With great food, with compassion, with love, with friendship, with …. You can add.
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I always loved Christmas. The smell in the kitchen with a few days before, the tree in the room, the snow outside. You need all for a perfect Christmas. I need all. I need snow, cookies, tree, gifts and above all I need my family. With all our old and new traditions.
For some of you is too early, but for me is just the right time to start sharing Christmas recipes.
I will start with my mom recipe for Christmas cookies. Simple to do, of course. As you know I am just at the begging in the kitchen.
Ingredients:
– 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup butter, softened
– 1 1/2 cups white or brown sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon cinnamon
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, give them the shape you like (round, square, or like me, C letter ) and place onto baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks. Add powder sugar on top after are cold. You can add chocolate, fruits , nuts or seeds.
Enjoy!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yup, Xmas cookies. My wife always made them and the kids decorated them. Of course most of the product never made it to the cookie jar.

Thank you so much, Sylvia.
These cookies look very good. Butter and vanilla are two things that I never have/buy. They seem to be the top ingredients in many recipes…I think I may need to get some; at least the vanilla. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you
