Plum cake

One of the most popular and easiest autumn dessert recipes is plum cake. Plums look and taste amazing into the batter. This autumn taste is completed with nutmeg and cinnamon. You can serve this cake any time of day warm or cold. This cake goes great with ice cream or whipped cream. Sky is the limit.


  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla homemade extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 500g plums, quartered


Preheat oven at 200 degrees Celsius and grease a pan.

Whisk the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt together in a large bowl.

Using a mixer beat the butter and sugar until pale into another bowl. To this mix add the egg and vanilla. Gradually, start adding the flour mixture alternating with the milk. Beat on low speed until is smooth.

Put the batter into a greased pan. Arrange the plums on top. You can make layers with plums and batter. Bake the cake for 1 hour or until you get the top golden.

  1. The cake looks delicious and the ingredients seem to be quite premium. Here in India we get weird tasting cakes in the name of plum cakes. Therefore I never feel like getting one from the store.
