I love Moussaka, but when you don’t have all the ingredients in the fridge, you adapt the recipe. So this is what I did. My husband loved it and he is a tough judge. It is a simpler recipe and a lot easy to make, but very tasteful.
- Chicken breast
- 2 white onions
- 2 cloves garlic
- Kefir (Yogurt)
Make the mashed potatoes with butter and Kefir and season with salt and pepper.
Preheat the oven. In a pan add some butter and stir the chopped onions until softened. Add the garlic and the chicken. Cook the chicken and season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the Moussaka: a layer of butter on the baking tray, a layer of mashed potatoes, and a layer of chicken and on top another layer of mashed potatoes.
Baked it at 180 Celsius Degrees for 45 – 50 minutes or until you have a crust on top.
Serve it with Kefir. Enjoy!

I don’t think exists, I made it up.
I discovered moussaka for the first time when I visited Greece, afterwards, I kept ordering it at every restaurant I went to. Soo delicious! Thanks for sharing this recipe! 🙂
P.S. I am a new mommy too, cheers to the journey of motherhood and cooking, and juggling both on top of a million other things!
Thank you. Congratulations!

You are welcome.
are there any amounts or specific directions? I’d love to make this but need a real recipe.
Honestly, I did not measure them. It was around 500 g of chicken. I don’t know if it helps.
This meal sounds interesting to make

That is a lovely change from the traditional one, in Turkey red foods (lol) seem so heavy in the summer !
